Adding a Video widget to a creative

You can include additional video content within a single ad by adding a Video widget to your ad. For example, you can display a video in a layered, interactive experience that opens when a viewer interacts with your ad. For background information and steps, see Adding layers to creatives with panels.

Video widget

The Video widget reports the following metrics for each video:

  • Quartiles
  • Start or Autostart
  • Pause and Resume
  • Mute and Unmute
  • Replay

For details, see Analyzing performance based on the elements in an ad: Ad Interactivity Report.

Before you start

To add a Video widget to a creative

  1. Navigate to the Division, Account, and Campaign of the creative.
  2. Click the Campaign Management tab, then click the Creatives tab.
  3. Click Edit for the creative. The Mixpo Studio opens.
  4. Add the widget to your creative:
    1. Depending on where you want your video to display, select from the following:
Warning: You should add the Video widget only to the Interactive Display tab or to Panels. If you add a Video widget to the Timeline Canvas tab, both the Video widget and the main video (or the timeline based content, for a Rich Media creative) will play.
      • To display a video on the StartFrame, click the Interactive Display tab.
      • To display a video on a panel, click the canvas tab that your panel is on, then click the Panels tab. Select the panel that you want to add the video to. For steps to create a new panel, see Adding layers to creatives with panels.
    2. Click the Overlays tab, then click Widget.
    3. Click Our stock library.
    4. Select the Video widget, then click Add media. The widget is added to your creative.
  5. Select the Video widget. In the settings area, new widget options appear.
  6. In the Overlay name field, type a name for the widget. The name is displayed in reports about the widget.
  7. To change the size of the widget, click and drag the sizing handles on the corners of the widget.
Note: To make sure that the live ad is optimized for mobile devices, the widget should be at least 44 × 44 pixels, so that it is big enough for viewers to tap.
  8. To adjust the appearance of the video player controls, click the Player skin drop-down list and select a video player skin.
Note: If you are adding a Video widget to a panel in your creative, Mixpo recommends that you select the same player skin in both in the widget and the standard video player to provide a uniform visual experience for your viewers.
If you select the Monochrome player skin, do the following:
    1. Adjust the Controls color to match the theme of your creative.
    2. If full screen display is not supported in your target environment, clear the Show fullscreen button check box.
  9. Click Add Videos. Click Campaign media, then click Upload media to Library. Upload the video that you want to display.
  10. Select the video, then click Add media.
  11. Optionally, you can add an image that is displayed before the video plays (if you do not enable autoplay) and after the video finishes playing. For example, if the first frame of your video is a black screen, you can include a compelling image instead.
Warning: If you add a poster image to your video, you can replace the image, but you can't delete the image. If you decide that you don't want to display a poster image, add a new Video widget to your creative.
In the Poster Image area, click Add Images, then upload the image that you want to display.
  12. If you want your video to play more than once, set the number of times that you want it to play, or select the Loop forever check box.
Note: When a video is looped, play metrics are reported for the first time that the video plays.
  13. By default, the video automatically plays. To play the video only when viewers interact with it, clear the Autoplay video check box.
  14. By default, the video plays with sound. To play the video without sound, clear the Play video audio check box.
  15. You can specify the video playback options that you want your viewers to be able to adjust. To do this, select or clear the following check boxes as desired:
    • Show video controls: Displays a play button and a progress bar at the bottom of the video. Viewers can fast forward a video using the progress bar.
    • Show fullscreen button: Allows viewers to watch the video in full screen.
    • Show center play button: Displays a play button in the middle of the video.
  16. When the video ends, the StartFrame is displayed. To display a black box instead, clear the Show start frame when video ends check box.
  17. To specify how you want the video to respond when viewers click the video, select from the following:
    • To allow viewers to pause the video by clicking on it, make sure the Clicking on video goes to clickthrough URL check box is cleared. This is the default behavior.
    • To redirect viewers to another webpage when they click the video, select the Clicking on video goes to clickthrough URL check box, then type the link to the webpage in the Clickthrough URL field.
  18. To include tracking pixels that fire while a viewer watches the video, do the following:
    1. From the When to fire drop-down list, select when during the video you want the tracking pixel to fire.
    2. Type the URL in the Tracking pixel URL field.
    3. To add additional URLs, click + (the plus sign), then repeat the steps above.
  19. Click Save.
  20. To test that the creative appears the way that you want it to, return to the Mixpo Platform and click Preview.
