Adding a Rotating Call to Action (CTA) widget to a creative

You can grab the attention of your viewers by displaying a Rotating Call to Action (CTA) widget on your ad.

Rotating Call to Action widget

If you set the graphics color to match the color of the content below the widget, the play button is hidden and you can use the widget as a generic rotating text visual.

Before you start

To add a Rotating Call to Action (CTA) widget to a creative

  1. Navigate to the Division, Account, and Campaign of the creative.
  2. Click the Campaign Management tab, then click the Creatives tab.
  3. Click Edit for the creative. The Mixpo Studio opens.
  4. Add the widget to your creative:
    1. Select the canvas tab that you want to add the widget to.
    2. Click the Overlays tab, then click Widget.
    3. Click Our stock library.
    4. Select the Rotating CTA widget, then click Add media. The widget is added to your creative.
  5. Select the Rotating CTA widget. In the settings area, new widget options appear.
  6. In the Overlay name field, type a name for the widget. The name is displayed in reports about the widget.
  7. To change the size of the widget, click and drag the sizing handles on the corners of the widget.
Note: To make sure that the live ad is optimized for mobile devices, the widget should be at least 44 × 44 pixels, so that it is big enough for viewers to tap. If you added the widget to the Timeline Canvas tab, leave at least 44 pixels between the widget and the bottom of the creative, so that viewers can tap the video player controls.
  8. Depending on how you want the ad to respond when viewers interact with it, select from the following:
    • If you want to draw viewers' attention to your ad, you can allow the ad to expand when a viewer interacts with any area of the ad, including the Rotating CTA widget. Select the Enable built-in mouse actions check box (default).
Tip: Make sure that the call to action that you display in the creative corresponds with the play mode that you specify when you assign the creative to a placement (see Assigning a creative to a placement).
    • If you want to provide a full experience in your ad using a variety of overlays and interactive behavior, you can assign an action to the Rotating CTA widget, such as opening a panel. When the viewer clicks outside the Rotating CTA widget, the ad opens a new webpage. To do this, clear the Enable built-in mouse actions checkbox. Expand the Actions area, then select the desired behavior from the Actions list. For background information and steps to configure actions, see Specifying what happens when viewers interact with ads.
  9. If you added the widget to the Interactive Display tab, by default, the Rotating CTA widget rotates indefinitely. If you want the Rotating CTA widget to stop rotating, select the Limit animation time check box, then type the number of seconds that you want the widget to rotate for.
  10. By default, the widget rotates clockwise. To make the widget rotate counterclockwise, in the Rotation direction drop-down list, select Counter clockwise.
  11. In the Font drop-down list, choose your font.
  12. In the Message field, type the text that you want to display (40 characters maximum). Make sure that the message coordinates with how a viewer will interact with the ad to make the ad play. You define how an ad plays when you assign a creative to a placement; for background information and steps, see Assigning a creative to a placement.
  13. To adjust the look and feel of the text that is displayed, select the Text color, Graphics color, and Opacity.
Tip: To hide the play button and display a generic rotating text visual, select a graphics color that matches the color of the content below the widget.
  14. If you added the widget to the Timeline Canvas tab, specify how you want the widget to appear in your video sequence. Do the following:
    1. From the Enter and Exit drop-down lists, select the entrance and exit animation effects.
    2. In the Duration field, type the number of seconds that you want the widget to appear for.
    3. In the Start time field, type the number of seconds into the video that you want the widget to appear.
Tip: You can also drag the widget on the visual timeline to adjust the timing. For steps, see Adjusting the timing of video content using the visual timeline.
  15. Click Save.
  16. To test that the creative appears the way that you want it to, return to the Mixpo Platform and click Preview.
