You can pause a video when a viewer clicks a text or image overlay in your ad. If you pause the video in your ad when viewers interact with another element of your ad, it increases the likelihood that viewers will respond.
Depending on the overlay action, automatic pausing can work in different ways:

Tip: You can open panels automatically, without displaying an overlay. For steps, see Adding a transparent overlay to a creative.
Before you start
- Create an In-Banner Video creative or an In-Stream Video creative. For steps, see Assembling a creative from a template or Assembling a creative from scratch.
- Add a text or image overlay to the Timeline Canvas of your creative. For steps, see Adding a text overlay to a creative or Adding an image overlay to a creative.
- Assign one of the following actions to the overlay:
- Clickthrough. For background information and steps, see Opening a webpage when a viewer clicks an overlay.
- Print Action. For background information and steps, see Letting viewers print content from an ad.
- Open Panel. For background information and steps, see Adding layers to creatives with panels.

To pause a video when a viewer clicks an overlay
- Navigate to the Division, Account, and Campaign of the creative.
- Click the Campaign Management tab, then click the Creatives tab.
- Click Edit for the creative. The Mixpo Studio opens.
- Select the Timeline Canvas tab.
- Select the text or image overlay.
- Expand the Actions area, then select the Auto pause check box.
- If the overlay action is a new panel, select whether you want to automatically show the content when the video pauses. For example, when a viewer clicks the overlay, the video pauses and an image is displayed.
- Click Save.
- To test that the creative appears the way that you want it to, return to the Mixpo Platform and click Preview.
Note: If an ad is set to automatically play with the audio turned off, the viewer must click the Play audio button to pause the video. For steps to enable audio, see Assigning a creative to a placement.
